Who should I sell fiber for? A state-by-state guide for reps (2026)

By Logan Futrell, President of Sales, Velocity One · Published 2026-09-01 · Updated 2026-09-01

Sell for a provider that is building right now, and get there through the dealer that holds its contract. New-build footprint is where a rep produces most: no existing subscriber base, a product that beats cable, and a provider that wants the network filled fast. Below is where that's happening in the states we work, and how you get on those doors.

"Yes, through dealers" means Velocity One holds a dealer agreement with that provider in that state. Where we say "Not published" we don't have a contract there and won't guess. Provider lists name the fiber builders we know to be active; they are not endorsements and we have no relationship with providers we don't sell for.

Who should I sell fiber for in Utah?

Utah is our home state and a mature fiber market: Google Fiber, UTOPIA's member ISPs, and Quantum Fiber already compete along the Wasatch Front. That makes it a harder door than a new build. Most Utah reps on our roster earn on travel blitzes instead: one to two weeks in a new-build market with flights, lodging, and a rental car covered, then home. How traveling fiber sales works →

How pay compares

Velocity One pays per customer order: $200 as a rookie, rising by level to $215, $225, $250, and $350+, paid weekly, with $30 team overrides for managers. Across our 2026 blitz deployments reps averaged 3.3 orders per rep per selling day; the best sustained deployment ran 4.5. Income depends entirely on performance and effort. The full rate card →

Frequently asked questions

Who should I sell fiber for?

Sell for a provider that is actively building, because a new footprint has the most persuadable homes and the least competition at the door. Then pick the dealer that gets you onto that provider's doors: most fiber ISPs don't hire door-to-door reps directly, they contract dealers like Velocity One, which sells for seven providers in 15 states.

Which fiber companies use door-to-door sales?

Most regional fiber builders and overbuilders do, through contracted dealers rather than direct hires. Velocity One sells for Glo Fiber (Shentel), Point Broadband, Astound Broadband, Omni Fiber, Brightspeed, Ripple Fiber, and Live Oak Fiber.

How do I get on a fiber provider's doors?

Apply to a dealer that holds that provider's contract. With Velocity One, you apply once, train through our university, and deploy on whichever provider is launching next, on a local team or a travel blitz.

Is it better to sell for a big national ISP or a regional fiber builder?

Regional builders launching new footprint usually give a rep the best doors: no existing subscriber base, a product that beats cable on speed, and a provider motivated to fill the network fast. National brands bring recognition but often more saturated territory.

Who should I sell fiber for in Utah?

Utah has mature fiber competition along the Wasatch Front, so most Utah reps earn more on travel blitzes in new-build markets. Velocity One is headquartered in Vineyard, Utah, and recruits Utah reps for blitzes in West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Florida, Ohio, and the Carolinas.

What does a fiber rep earn per order?

At Velocity One, $200 per customer order as a rookie, rising by level to $215, $225, $250, and $350+, paid weekly. Income depends entirely on performance and effort.
