Questions We Hear Every Day

By Velocity One · Updated 2026-08-14

What does Velocity One do?

Velocity One is a U.S. door-to-door fiber internet sales organization. We recruit, train, deploy, and manage field sales teams that sell fiber-to-the-home service on behalf of broadband providers: 1,600+ customer orders across 14 markets in 9 states since Feb 2026.

Providers hire us to launch new markets and raise take rate; reps join us for commission-based sales careers with real training. Both sides run on the same operations platform, where every knock, order, and install is tracked.

About Velocity One →

Do fiber internet companies use door-to-door salespeople?

Yes. Door-to-door remains the highest-converting acquisition channel for fiber providers, especially at market launch. Most households in a new footprint don't know fiber has arrived, and a doorstep conversation converts that awareness gap directly into orders.

How D2D fiber sales works →

Why do fiber companies sell door to door instead of just advertising?

Because at launch, nobody is searching for them. Ads reach people with existing intent; a new fiber network needs to create intent at addresses that already pay a competitor. D2D also wastes no reach: reps knock only serviceable homes.

Why providers use the channel →

Is door-to-door fiber sales hard?

It's honest hard work (miles of walking, plenty of no-answers, real rejection) inside a structured, coached system. People who show up consistently and stay coachable succeed regardless of background; most of our reps started with no sales experience.

A day in the life →

How much can you make selling fiber internet?

Fiber D2D pay is per-install commission, so income is production math: selling days × orders per day × install rate × commission. Our blitz reps averaged 3.3 orders per selling day in 2026; we walk applicants through the actual rate card with real examples rather than advertising a number.

How pay works →

Do you need sales experience to sell fiber?

No. Coachability and work ethic predict success far better than a sales résumé. Our training covers product, pitch, objections, and compliance, then pairs you with a team lead for two weeks of field coaching. Most new reps close in week one.

The training →

What does a fiber sales rep actually do all day?

Morning huddle and callbacks, afternoon territory work, and prime-time knocking from late afternoon through dusk, working from a live map of serviceable addresses, entering orders on the spot, and logging every door's outcome.

How does a fiber sales blitz work?

A blitz concentrates a hand-picked team of experienced travel reps on one footprint for one to two weeks: mapped territory, pre-warmed neighborhoods, daily leaderboards. Our 2026 blitzes averaged 3.3 orders per rep per selling day.

The blitz playbook →

How do fiber providers increase take rate?

The dominant lever after launch is sustained field coverage: most non-subscribers have simply never had fiber explained at their door. Disciplined D2D (complete footprint coverage, per-door history, block-level competitive targeting) converts the persuadable middle that marketing can't reach.

Take rate, explained →

What close rate do fiber sales teams get?

The only honest answer starts with the denominator. Against doors knocked, single digits is normal; against real conversations, far higher. The commercially meaningful figure is install conversion. At Velocity One, 72% of resolved orders in recent cohorts become installed customers, definition and monthly history published.
