A Day in the Life: Selling Fiber Door to Door

By Velocity One · Updated 2026-08-14

Honest version: you'll walk miles, hear "no thanks" more than "yes," and love it more than any job you've had, if you're built for earned wins. Here's a real day, no varnish.

Morning: the huddle

The day starts with the team: yesterday's numbers on the board (knocks, conversations, orders, by name), today's territory assignments on the map, and one skill focus. If you're on a travel blitz, breakfast is with the same people you'll compete against all day. Callbacks get scheduled, appointment confirmations get made, and you roll out.

Afternoon: prime doors

Your canvassing app shows your assigned turf: which doors are serviceable, which were not-home yesterday, which asked for a callback, which are already customers. You work it door by door. Most knocks are quick: not home, not interested, a renter waiting on a landlord. Then someone answers who's been watching the fiber crews for months and wants to know what it means for their house, and you're in a real conversation.

A good conversation runs five to fifteen minutes: what they pay now, what bugs them about it, how fiber is different, what it costs, when it can be installed. When they're in, the order goes into the system on the spot and you pick the install date together at the door.

Evening: the golden hours

Dusk is when the neighborhood is home. The last two hours of daylight are consistently the most productive of the day. The leaderboard moves fast, and the group chat gets loud every time someone closes. Across our 2026 blitz deployments, reps averaged 3.3 orders per selling day(measured, not marketing), most of them landing in these hours.

Night: numbers and the crew

Orders entered, tomorrow's callbacks logged, and the nightly report goes out automatically: your day in numbers, next to everyone else's. On blitzes, dinner with the team is where the real training happens: what worked at the door today, replayed and argued about until it becomes everyone's playbook.

The parts nobody puts in the ad

Who thrives

Athletes, grinders, and people sick of clock-punching. The common thread across our best reps isn't a sales background (most didn't have one). It's showing up every day, taking coaching without ego, and treating door forty like door one.The training handles the rest.
